چکیده

The broadcast domination problem is a variant of the classical minimum dominating set problem in which a transmitter of power p at vertex v is capable of dominating (broadcasting to) all vertices within distance p from v. Our goal is to assign a broadcast power f(v) to every vertex v in a graph such that ∑ v∈V f(v) is minimized, and such that every vertex u with f(u) = 0 is within distance f(v) of some vertex v with f(v) > 0. The problem is solvable in polynomial time on a general graph [15], and Blair et al. [6] gave an O(n) algorithm for trees. In this paper, we provide an O(n) algorithm for trees. Our algorithm is notable due to the fact that it makes decisions for each vertex v based on “non-local” information from vertices far away from v, whereas almost all other linear-time algorithms for trees only make use of local information.

Broadcast Domination on Block Graphs in Linear Time

A broadcast domination on a graph assigns an integer value f(u) ≥ 0 to each vertex u, such that every vertex u with f(u) = 0 is within distance f(v) from a vertex v with f(v) > 0. The Broadcast Domination problem seeks to compute a broadcast domination where the sum of the assigned values is minimized. We show that Broadcast Domination can be solved in linear time on block graphs. For general g...

A Linear-time Algorithm for Broadcast Domination Problem on Interval Graphs

The broadcast domination problem of a graph G = (V,E) is to find a subset B ⊆ V such that the vertices in V \B can be dominated by some vertex in B. The difference between broadcast domination and classical domination is that each vertex v in B is assigned a power value f(v) where f(v) ≥ 1 and the vertices in distance at most f(v) to v can hear (be dominated by) v. The goal is to find the minim...

Broadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach

While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

An improved algorithm to reconstruct a binary tree from its inorder and postorder traversals

It is well-known that, given inorder traversal along with one of the preorder or postorder traversals of a binary tree, the tree can be determined uniquely. Several algorithms have been proposed to reconstruct a binary tree from its inorder and preorder traversals. There is one study to reconstruct a binary tree from its inorder and postorder traversals, and this algorithm takes running time of...

An efficient Linear Algorithm for Paired-domination Numbers of Trees

The paired-domination was introduced by Haynes and Slater in 1995 as a model for assigning backups to guards for security proposes, and it was shown that the problem on general graphs is NP-complete. In 2003, Qiao et al gave a linear algorithm for obtaining the paired-domination numbers of trees based on the paired-domination numbers of paths. The advantage of taking paths into consideration is...
